ALIVE / FLORIAN NICK – KANADA
„Als Filmemacher liebe ich es, dem Publikum eine Geschichte, ein Thema oder auch die Schönheit unseres Planeten durch meine ganz persönliche Vision zu vermitteln. Mit dem Projekt ALIVE will ich das Medium des Films nutzen, um mehr Bewusstsein für die Umwelt und unseren gefährdeten Planeten zu schaffen. Ich habe mich hierfür auf ein 6-wöchiges Abenteuer in die weite Natur der westlichen kanadischen Provinzen British Columbia und Alberta begeben. Auf meiner 5500 km langen Suche nach den schönsten Orten der Region entdeckte ich saftige Regenwälder, kristallblaue Bergseen und mächtige Gebirge. Nach der Ausbeute von 54.000 Einzelfotos und fünf Monaten intensiver Postproduktion, präsentiere ich diesen Natur-Timelapse-Film.“

The film explores a journey to find the moments of beauty within a unique stylized universe. Through observing the surrounding lights, detailed atmospheric elements and landscapes, a new elegant world is revealed for the first time.“

Raised by her grandmother in Waimea on Hawai’i Island, she knows intimately of the relationship her people shared with the land and the sea. From the summit of Mauna Kea to the depths of the Pacific Ocean, Pua’s profound connection to both fuels her passion, shapes her prayers, and ignites her belief that a deeper understanding of „home“ will restore our natural balance with the environment. In this short film we made for her, she explores the journey from mountain to ocean and how her life has been shaped each ebb and flow.“

This short documentary explores the development of our relationship over the last few years but more importantly the search for happiness and what it means to different people.“

WE GOT YOUR BACK / VIKTOR HERTZ – SCHWEDEN
Viktor Hertz provokanter Film – wirkt definitiv nach. – There is so much to feel guilt about nowadays. Sure, we all care about the environment, but honestly, don’t you just want to toss all the junk in the same waste bin, sometimes? What if there was a simple service that got your back covered, on a monthly direct debit plan? Viktor Hertz is a freelance graphic designer from Sweden, born in Uppsala. „Recently I started to write and direct short films, and have plans for more future projects in this area.“

ZWISCHENRÄUME / BIRGIT NOCKENBERG & LUCAS RUDOLF – DEUTSCHLAND
„Zwischenräume“ ist ein Festival für interkulturellen Austausch von interKArt e.V. in Karlsruhe. Der Name ist Programm, denn es sollen Räume zwischen Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft geschaffen werden, in denen sie sich begegnen. Kulturelle und sprachliche Barrieren sollen überwunden werden, damit sich Menschen besser kennenlernen und austauschen. Die Integration heterogener ethnischer Gruppen in die Gesellschaft soll ebenso gefördert werden wie die Ausbildung von Toleranz, Respekt und vor allem Neugier gegenüber fremden kulturellen Traditionen. Die Filmemacher Birgit Nockenberg und Lucas Rudolf haben Musik- und Multimediajournalismus studiert und das Festival im September 2017 begleitet. Der Film zeigt Eindrücke der drei Tage, der Veranstaltungen und Besucher.

Partner & Schirmherr des Kurzfilmwettbewerbs ist ab 2018 die neue Initiative impactfilm.org. Die Gewinner dieses sozialen Wettbewerbs werden alle zwei Jahre automatisch für dem Kurzfilmwettbewerb des Cosmic Cine Filmfestivals zugelassen. Die beiden Gewinner der letzten Staffel sind bereits in den Nominees 2018 aufgenommen und werden wie alle nominierten Kurzfilme, an einem Tag des Festivals, auch auf der großen Kinoleinwand im mathäser Filmpalast ausgestrahlt.
